Christmas 2007 Update

Merry Christmas to all of you!

So much has happened within the Security Blanket program over the past couple of months. There are over forty children in the program now and our demands are becoming overwhelming, but God is always there to answer any need which occurs.

We held our back to school shopping spree on Nov. 17 at Toys R. Us and each child was given seventy-five dollars to shop with and each sibling ten dollars. We had Jeffery the Giraffe, Santa and a stocking for each child. We presented a family a thousand dollars to go to New York over the Christmas holiday for treatments. We just received a $5,000 dollar Grant from Carolina Panther football team to be used for gasoline vouchers for travel expenses. We also received a 12,000 dollar anonymous gift to the program.

At the shopping spree, Hope Blackwell age 14, whom almost died a year ago from leukemia spent all her money buying gifts for her six year old brother who donated his bone marrow to save her life. Hope is doing well now and back in school!

Also Nov. 17th day was filled with sadness for eight year old Victoria Patterson received her angel wings after a long brave battle with cancer in a hospital in Greenville.

We have received a NASCAR racing helmet which has been autographed by the top ten Busch drivers which also has the Security Blanket logo, to be used to sell raffle tickets. All fifty drivers of the 50th running of the Daytona Five hundred will be signing a hand made fender guitar to raffled off also at spring race in Charlotte. These items will hopefully be advertised on ESPN Speed Week edition.

We gave a hand made guitar of the Carolina Panthers in October to
Dylan Kirby at the SC District meeting held here in Spartanburg. Dylan has facial cancer and he personally has raised over ten thousand dollars to help other children who has cancer to attend camps.

Plans for the new year consists of a bowling party in February, ice cream party in April, Fourth of July cook out, and back to school shopping sprees.

Merry Christmas from all.
